Cathy creates elegant jewellery and small silverware using traditional hand tools and incorporates the techniques of chasing and repoussé. These processes are fundamental to her work- they form the basis of her jewellery as she creates intricate, tactile and beautiful objects that evoke the sumptuous world of flora and fauna.
Cathy’s jewellery is formed under steel punches and each piece goes through rounds of hammering. Inspired by the small details of nature- rippling sand dunes, subtle veins of skeleton leaves and the branched patterns of ice crystals; networks of flowing lines are chased into the surface of the silver and the deeper textures are formed on the reverse.
Cathy wants to celebrate the hand crafted qualities, as it makes each piece unique. The textures of each design flow into one another and the pearly white finish of the silver is often highlighted with gold or coloured gemstones.
